The Parco delle Cascine was, in the Middle Ages, a comprised fluvial island among the Arno, the Mugnone and the channel that fed the mill of Ognissanti. It was acquired by Alessandro De Medici and destined to breed the cattle, from which the name "cascine" (ndt: shacks). In 800's the Shacks, already redesigned and cleaned up, become the place designed to the great festivities with fireworks, military parades and walks in chariot.
