The Teatro della Pergola was constructed by Ferdinando Tacca with the wood coming from Camaldoli, where was an ancient “ tiratoio”( n.d.t.: a plant where the wool was worked) in disuse of the Art of the Wool, confining with a great arbor-bower of grape. In the second half of the 700’s it was transformed in stonework by Giulio Mannaioni. Between 1837 and 1828 it was completed in neoclassico style, with the addition of the external penthouse in wrought iron. Today it’s the most important Florentine “meeting” with the prose show.
