The powerful tower constructed with the palace, on plan of Arnolfo di Cambio (1298-1314), is 94 meters high and finishes with a bell cell with the merlons as rondine tail in Ghibelline style. It rests on a previous tower called “della Vacca” belonging to the Ghibelline family of the Foraboschi. Through a steep scroll scale that turns around a column, one arrives to the top, where a spectacular panorama of the city can be admired.
