The Uffizi, the most meaningful Florentine building of the 1500's, was constructed from Giorgio Vasari by command of Cosimo de' Medici. In the centre of the imposing construction there is an immense rectangular courtyard, called the “Strada dei Magistrati” where taken also place public festivities. In the twenty-eight niches, designed initially to host statues of illustrious Florentine personages, were placed in the 800’s, sculptures in marble of personages from Tuscany
